Writing Tools

I read a book on the strategy of writing tools by Ray Peter Porter recently.It's great to know how to use certain tools on having better writings.

I found useful the section on 13 creating effects like finding clues, emphasizing characters,making contrasts,letting the readers wait by setting cliffhanges,differences of content and form etc.

The other 16 blueprints and 11 habits for our writing are also insightful for thoughts.One input on making of distinctions between story and report is great.

We can make use of the five Ws like who,when,where,what ,why and one H i.e. how

to make it clear of characters, chronology, geographical space,natural setting,underlying cause as well as the human motivations. Let making the writing become more lively.

Stories are for experiences and reports are for information.
These two can be intermingled for dramatic effects.

I just like to read,but whether can make use of these ideas are entirely another story ! At least it's taste for further thoughts.
